Let’s move on with 7 Tips for Restoring Your Self-Worth After a Toxic Relationship

Well, that didn’t go right.

We walk into a relationship with so much enthusiasm. We think what we’ve found is the best thing in the world, which is a heady feeling for while it lasts. Sadly, when a relationship is toxic, we’re frequently the last to know. By the time we escape, our self-worth has already taken a hefty blow.

So, how do you restore positive feelings about yourself after a toxic relationship?

Let’s look at the 7 Tips for Restoring Your Self-Worth After a Toxic Relationship…

Release Your Victimhood

The more you focus on what happened, the more you get stuck, so the sooner you can quit revisiting the past and dwelling on perceptions of ill treatment, the sooner you’re going to put all this behind you. This doesn’t mean to say this was your fault, but obsessing about the ‘shoulds’ and going back over every encounter is only going to hurt you regardless of whether you were in the right or not.

Drop the Blame

Was it your fault? Not. The sooner you can let go of any residual guilt or bad feelings about the relationship, the happier you’ll be. The next step should help.

Silence Their Voice

The problem with toxic relationships is you tend to believe what the other person said about you, no matter how outlandish it seemed at the time. Now their voice is there, lurking in your head to remind you of all your so-called shortcomings at every opportunity—time to tell them to shut up once and for all.

Embrace the New You

Find joy in being single. Spoil yourself. Do that thing you always wanted to do. Take lessons, build your skill set as you build yourself up. Become your own best friend in a way that doesn’t require validation from any outside source.

Believe Your Friends

You hear the compliments, but they’re going in one ear and out the other. Rather than brush off the nice things, people around you are saying, start listening. Listening until these words become a part of who you are.

Create Goals You Love

What would you like to do with your life? Too often, our goals reflect the needs and desires around us. Now is the time to reverse this. Accepting you are capable, and your goals are worth fighting for, what do YOU want to do?

Affirmations

Work through the worst offenders of negative self-talk through positive affirmations. Take note of what you’re telling yourself. Rewrite the script and turn these statements around into affirmations that you read to yourself every day.

Are your Toxic Friends Lowering Your Self-Esteem?

By Linda on July 1, 2022

Are your Toxic Friends Lowering Your Self-Esteem?

Do you have toxic friends? Are there people in your friendship group that seem to be intent on bringing you down instead of lifting you up? Your toxic friends can be damaging to your health and your self-esteem. Are your Toxic Friends Lowering Your Self-Esteem?

Are your Toxic Friends Lowering Your Self-Esteem?

Want to watch Are your Toxic Friends Lowering Your Self-Esteem?

If you prefer watching videos over reading, I’ve got you covered. You can watch this article below:

Rather want to listen to Are your Toxic Friends Lowering Your Self-Esteem?

If you would rather listen or listen and read along, here is the audio of this article:

How can you tell if a friend is toxic?

😳Do they focus on your weaknesses or bad points, even if it’s “only joking?”
😳Do they criticize your clothes, appearance, choices or actions?
😳Do they let you down, like “forgetting” to show up for dates?
😳Do they borrow money, but don’t pay it back?
😳Do they try and pressure you into doing things when you don’t want to?
😳Do they always talk about themselves and their problems and never about yours?
😳Do they talk up their lives, but are negative or dismissive about yours? Or never even ask how you are?
😳Do you have to make all the organizing for trips, dinners, or even just staying in touch?
😳Are they happy and celebrate your successes? Or do they snipe or criticize?
😳Do they stand you up, even if you organized that vacation, dinner, or party months ago?

If someone is continually telling you that you need to lose weight, or you’ll never get a good job or write that book, they are not your friend.

If they borrow money or your car or your clothes, they are subliminally (and not very subtly) telling you that you’re not worth much at all.

If they treat you like a doormat, sooner or later you’ll come to believe you’re a doormat.

Toxic friends are holding up a distorting mirror

They are showing you a negative reflection that is not you – it’s a part of them. But this reflection can undermine your self-esteem and leave you feeling powerless. You don’t need that in your life.

Friends are supposed to add to your life

Friends are supposed to add to your life, to make you feel good, to be there for you when times are tough, to support you, and celebrate the good times.

Toxic friends continually let you down and undermine you. Bad friendships can affect your physical and mental health, leading to high blood pressure, lower immunity, depression, and anxiety.

Research has shown that supportive friendships can boost your immune system and people with good friends even live longer!

Conclusion to Are your Toxic Friends Lowering Your Self-Esteem?

So, take a look at the so-called friends who don’t make you feel good about yourself and decide whether you want them in your life or not. You can choose to let them fade out of your life, allowing more time to make real friends.

On with Top Hypnotherapy Apps to Improve Self-Worth

Hypnotherapy can help you lose weight, stop smoking, deal with phobias or anxiety and challenge self-doubt or low self-esteem.

Hypnotherapy is based on the power of suggestion and using the unconscious mind to change what may seem like fixed beliefs or states of mind. Contrary to the popular view of hypnosis, you stay in control at all times. You don’t lose consciousness, and you can come out of the hypnotic state at any time.

You may associate hypnotherapy with a therapist or counselor and a swaying pendulum. But you don’t need to be in therapy or to find the right person to work with to benefit from hypnosis. There is a wide range of apps for your smartphone or tablet, and many of them are used by therapists to support work done in the consulting room. Using a hypnosis app can help you take an active role in dealing with the issue or problem that you want to resolve.

There are hypnosis apps that are general (offering a range of options from stress-relief to sleep) or focused on one problem you want to address such as smoking, weight loss or anxiety. There are also apps that will help with relationships or business success.

And of course, if you feel your overall self-worth needs work before you delve into changing things that are negatively impacting your self-dignity, such as weight loss or social anxiety, there are apps for that as well.

Here are six of the most Top Hypnotherapy Apps to Improve Self-Worth:

Build Self-Esteem Hypnosis app

Helps eliminate negative self-talk, change your mindset and naturally improve your self-confidence.

Anxiety Free

Anxiety Free is a free self-hypnosis app developed by a clinician using subliminal messages to deal with anxiety.

Rachael Meadows’ apps

Rachael Meadows has some apps that use hypnosis techniques to deal with issues ranging from sleep and weight loss to leadership and relationships

Sleep Well Hypnosis

This a free app of 25-minute sessions that combine nature sounds, voices, music and what they describe as a ‘powerful hypnotic booster’

Quit Smoking

Now is an award-winning app by Max Kirsten, an English clinical hypnotherapist and appears to have a high success rate.

Harmony Hypnosis Easy Weight Loss

This is part of an app created by Darren Marks, a London-based hypnotherapist. The weight loss app is part of a Body Shape Up program.

Here are some other places to find hypnosis programs:

Hypnosis Bootcamp

Download Your FREE Hypnosis Booster MP3!

What do you MOST want to work on today?

Brain Power. Law of Attraction. Wealth. Weight Loss. Confidence.
Just choose from the list in the link above, and they’ll send you a FREE Hypnosis MP3 – and provide you with a LIVE training session.

Dr Steve G Jones

Dr. Steve G Jones is a world famous hypnotherapist who works with Dr. Joe Vitale. I’ve done so many of their programs up to date.

In his article here on 7 Ways Millionaires Thinks Differently you can learn whether you are already thinking like a millionaire. You can learn more from him in his program Total Money Magnetism. (aff)

Conclusion to Top Hypnotherapy Apps to Improve Self-Worth

As with any program or therapy, it’s best to browse as many options as possible to see what is the best fit for you. One thing to be wary of – some apps are themselves free but will charge for each session.

Social Media Can Lower Self-Worth

By Linda on June 29, 2022

Social Media Can Lower Self-Worth

One of the worst things you can do for your self-esteem is to spend too much time on social media. Learn how Social Media Can Lower Self-Worth.

Social Media Can Lower Self-Worth

Want to watch the video on Social Media Can Lower Self-Worth

If you would rather watch the video than read the article, I’ve got you covered. You can watch it below:

Want to listen to Social Media Can Lower Self-Worth

If you’re busy and can’t read right now, you can continue with your task while listening or you can read along while listening. Here is the audio of this article:

Let’s look at how Social Media Can Lower Self-Worth

Even if you make a solemn promise to yourself not to compare yourself to other people, it’s inevitable that you will. You can’t help it.

People post photos of their parties, family get-togethers, holidays, new cars, engagements, graduations, new jobs, and new babies. In other words, all the markers and milestones of success in our society.

It’s often remarked that people show the best aspects of their lives on social media and never the bad bits. You don’t see the arguments at family parties, the holiday food poisoning, the sleepless nights with a new baby, the months and years of hard work that went into earning that car or that holiday. You don’t see any of that.

You only see the snapshot of happiness and achievement, a collage of other people’s perfect lives that you can in no way replicate. But it’s an illusion. A powerful illusion that can make you feel terrible. You might feel jealous, resentful, a failure, unlovable.

The other illusion of social media is the expectation of continual positive feedback – likes, hearts, comments, retweets, post shares. And if you don’t get them or get enough, you can feel like a failure. You are handing your self-esteem over to hundreds of other people.

But what can you do in the face of all this success that isn’t yours?

You don’t have to become a social media monk or cut yourself off to stop buying into the one-upmanship feedback loop. And you don’t have to stop sharing your achievements or happy times.

You can decide to put yourself first and opt out of the social media success Olympics

  • Take control of how much time you spend on social media
  • Don’t make it your default activity
  • Delete social media apps from your phone
  • Close social media tabs instead of having them constantly alerting you to new posts.
  • Have a good hard look at your list of ‘friends’ and cull them down to people you know and care about. Those who are loving and supportive of you

Conclusion to Social Media Can Lower Self-Worth

If the social media comparison has gotten you down, be kind to yourself and get off that train for a while. Let your friends know you are going Facebook-free for a week or a month and then do it.

Then notice how you feel when you aren’t constantly comparing yourself. Chances are you’ll notice a big difference and decide to make the changes above without feeling you are losing something.

Taking Small Steps Can Build your Self-Worth

Over to Taking Small Steps Can Build your Self-Worth

If you have low self-esteem, trying to feel better about yourself might seem impossible. Trying to do everything at once will be exhausting, will scatter your energy, and will most likely lead to less progress than you’d like. You risk feeling worse than when you started.

Sometimes even the thought of building your self-worth can feel like an insuperable task.

Where should you start?

It can help if you approach it like a project and break it down into small achievable steps. Take it one step at a time, and before you know it, you’ll be feeling better about yourself.

Make the positive decision not to try to change everything at once.

Acknowledge that this is just setting you up for failure, which is the last thing you need.

But by making this a conscious decision, you’re setting out on a positive path of doing things calmly and building yourself a sure foundation.

A foundation built on self-care and kindness.

And you’re off to a great start already! The fact that you’re reading this means you’re self-aware and want to do the best for yourself.

Positive self-worth builds on self-care and kindness.

5 Steps To Build your Self-Worth

Here are five small, but significant things you can do to be kind to yourself, today and throughout the coming weeks.

Build in little regular treats to make yourself feel good.

A monthly massage or manicure perhaps, or a walk in the park a few times a week.

Acknowledge your weaknesses and think of a positive action you can take to help yourself.

Apps for time or money management perhaps, a fitness coach, or taking a class. Remember to tackle one at a time.

Journaling can be helpful in identifying, challenging and turning around negative self-perceptions.

Try writing down every positive thing you can think of about yourself. Think of things that are just about you, not things where you compare yourself to someone else.

Are you a good writer?

Are you kind?

Do you have a good sense of humor?

Do people love your pancakes?

If you are new to journaling and would like to learn more about journaling, click here for journaling tips.

You can also learn more on how you can Journal your way to self-worth.

Start a daily gratitude journal where you list all the things for which you’re grateful.

You might be grateful for clean air, water, enough food to eat and a house to live in for starters.

Living in a place of gratitude keeps your brain looking for things to be grateful for, so you’ll begin seeing things all around you.

Get your printable Gratitude Journal today.

Start And End Your Day Right

End each day by thinking of at least one good thing that happened that day, and on waking think of a positive affirmation to take you through the day.

If you struggle with affirmations, these cards might help:

Conclusion To Taking Small Steps Can Build your Self-Worth

Building your self-worth will take work and dedication. You can’t do an affirmation today and leave it for the next 2 weeks and then suddenly want to have great self-worth. Like in any personal development, it is built up over time and takes work. But YOU CAN DO THIS!! I know because you read this article.

7 Reasons Why Raising your Self-Worth is Important

Having a healthy sense of self-worth can change the way you feel about your life. Here are 7 Reasons Why Raising your Self-Worth is Important.

Let’s go over to the 7 Reasons Why Raising your Self-Worth is Important

Positive self-worth sets you up to have the energy and confidence to be your best you, to take on challenges and seize opportunities when they come up.

Self-worth means you can have your best possible life.

The basis of self-dignity is an honest appraisal of your strengths and weaknesses. That allows you to capitalize on your strengths and to be objective, not defensive about your weaknesses.

It gives you the tools to take control of your life.

Having a happy, successful life and feeling good about yourself is not a matter of luck.

Positive self-worth is a fundamental part of the Law of Attraction – if you feel good about yourself and believe you deserve to be happy or wealthy or have good relationships, you will attract those things into your life.

The experiences we’ve had in our lives, starting from a very early age, alter our self-dignity, either improving it or eroding it.

The good news is we can do something about it if we want to have a stronger self-worth. Although it isn’t always pleasant, it’s well worth the time and effort to raise your self-worth.

Here are some key aspects of the positive role self-worth can have in your life:

Be more satisfied with life

You will be more satisfied with life because you will naturally see the good things in life, rather than focusing on the things that are disappointing.

You won’t be undermining yourself with negative self-talk

The Inner Critic will always be there, but you will know how to keep it in check and how to harness that analytical capability to keep increasing your self-awareness.

Self-knowledge is a key part of good leadership

You are more likely to be successful at work when you have a healthy sense of self. You will be able to deal with problems before they get out of proportion, for example.

Less reliant on other people

You will be less needy, less reliant on other people’s good opinion of you. You will be strong enough in your self-worth not to compare yourself with others.

Stronger relationships

Your relationships will be stronger and more fulfilling because you’ll be building them with honesty and self-knowledge.

Conclusion to 7 Reasons Why Raising your Self-Worth is Important

Raising your self-worth takes time and dedication in realizing that you are worth more than you give yourself credit for. Use these reasons as motivation to build your self-worth.

You are the only person who is with you from the day you are born until the day you die ~Linda Pretorius #quote
